Hey y’all! We are so excited to share Charlai and Will’s engagement session, one of our favorite Birmingham engagement photo locations combos yet. We started downtown at the historic courthouse and made our way over to the Birmingham Botanical Gardens, and the contrast between the two spots gave this whole gallery such a nice range, from polished city architecture to soft, green garden light. Charlai and Will are one of those couples you just click with instantly. From the moment they walked up, it was easy, relaxed energy the entire time, the kind where you almost forget you are working because you are just enjoying being around two people who clearly love being around each other. Charlai wore a flowy blue floral dress for the courthouse portion, and the marble columns and gold railings downtown gave us such a timeless, editorial backdrop for it. From there we moved to the Botanical Gardens, where Charlai changed into a breezy ivory dress that felt right at home against all that greenery. The gardens gave us layers of trees, stone paths, and a quiet little creek to work with, and Charlai and Will walked hand in hand through it like they had all the time in the world. There is something about shooting a couple in a space that lush that just makes portraits feel effortless. These two have a proposal story worth mentioning too. Will spent their third anniversary planning a full day for Charlai around Birmingham, breakfast, a surprise trip to Oak Mountain for horseback riding, and mini golf, before bringing her home to an apartment full of flowers and candles, where he got down on one knee. That kind of thoughtfulness says a lot about a person, and it showed in the way Will looked at Charlai all session long. Charlai and Will, we cannot wait for your wedding day in April.
