Hello, Spring! We are so excited to share Madalyn and Chase’s engagement session, which took us to two of our favorite Birmingham backdrops in one afternoon. We started at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens and finished up at the Federal Courthouse building downtown, and the change of scenery gave this session a really nice range, lush and romantic in one half, clean and classic in the other.
The Botanical Gardens delivered exactly what spring in Birmingham should look like. Madalyn and Chase wandered through rose covered arbors and greenery draped pergolas, and we loved catching them mid laugh and mid dance more than posed, one of our favorite frames from the whole day is Chase spinning her right there on the garden path. Madalyn’s navy polka dot dress felt playful and timeless at once, which fit the two of them perfectly.
From there we moved downtown to the Federal Courthouse building, where those tall columns and warm stone gave the session a completely different energy, still romantic, but a little more elevated. Madalyn changed into a flowing white set for this half, and Chase was sharp in a navy suit, and the two of them popped champagne on the courthouse steps to celebrate. That kind of detail is exactly why we love ending sessions somewhere unexpected, it gives couples a reason to toast, and it gives us a reason to catch genuine, unscripted joy instead of another posed portrait.
Madalyn and Chase were an absolute pleasure to work with. Down to earth, easygoing, and willing to try anything we suggested, spins, close ups, a champagne toast mid laugh, all of it. They have such a classic, timeless feel together, and it showed in every single frame, whether we were surrounded by roses or standing beneath a hundred year old colonnade.
We cannot wait for their wedding day. Congratulations again, Madalyn and Chase, this was such a fun one.
