Wow! 2014 is almost over. Man its been an amazing year for Sara & I. This was our first full year in business as Al Weddings and looking back, we’ve learned a lot! Just looking back over a few months I can even see so much change and improvement. We wanted to wrap up 2014 showcasing some of our best moments. I hope you enjoy!
^ By far the best moment this year was finally marrying the woman of my dreams. Sara & I were together 4 years before I popped the question. We’ve had tons of trials and tribulations on our relationship and they’ve formed us into the happily married couple that we are now. Getting married was also very good insight for our business. We got to see first hand what our bride and grooms go through when planning a wedding. It’s NUTS to say the least. This allowed us to make a few changes in the way we do things in our business. We’ve gotten some great response from the changes we made.
^ Ohhh Jamaica!!! This is where we went for our honeymoon. Hands down the best vacation I’ve ever been on and we’re going back again in May!!! The photo above is in my top 10 favorite images I have taken. I submitted this photo to a Sandals contest and won 1st place.
^Molly’s birthday session was something I came up with a few days before her birthday and I just wanted to do something fun and new. It has now turned into something we will do each year. The blog from this session was featured on Reddit and is the 2nd highest ranked blog post we have done with over 3,000 page views. We also just did one for our other dogs birthday.
^ Now this photo as of right now is my favorite wedding picture EVER! I shot this photo back in summer while shooting for Alisha Crossley at the Alabama Theatre!
^This was one of the first weddings I started incorporating off camera flash. I just love this first dance shot!
^Boudoir is something we introduced back in August. Now of course, Sara takes all the boudoir photos. But it’s something that almost happened over night. I remember seeing the photos from Sara’s first boudoir session (not shown) and I was blown away. I could not believe that her first session would be that good. In the few short months that we’ve offered boudoir we’ve had the opportunity of taking photos for 7 beautiful ladies and already a handful of bookings for next year. One of the most fun thing we did was the boudoir marathon. Check that out here.
^Alex & Katie!!! I’ve know Alex for a long time now. He’s the one who taught me everything I know about video. Even with me being absolutely horrible at video, he stuck with me and helped me get where I am now. This whole session kind of happened on accident. I really wanted to shoot in a cotton field. We had a session booked but the couple actually canceled a few days before. So I called Alex and Katie and asked them if they would be down for a last minute session. Thank god they were! The cotton was harvested a week later. We also shot their wedding last year. You can check that out here.
^ Sara’s ring shot obsession! After being introduced to Susan Stripling ( one of the top wedding photographers in the US ) we noticed her amazing detail shots. Sara in particular loved her ring shots. I bought her a macro lens for her birthday in August and since then our brides have been requesting shots of their bling! Take a look back at any of our recent blog posts and their will be an amazing ring shot in it =)
^ The Military wedding. I love this shot so much! This was the first military wedding we’ve done where they did the Saber Arch. For those of you that haven’t seen one of these, its a tradition where all of the swords are lowered after they say “I do” and they raise each set of swords after they kiss. In the shot above, this is the last kiss they have to do before they raise the swords. The funny part is they welcome the new wife to the Marine Corps by giving her a tap on her bottom and saying ” Welcome to the Marine Corps!”
^ Britini & Dustin win the “chillest” couple award. They are so easy going! The photo on the left is also in my top 10 favorite pictures.
^Tiffany & Catlin. Not only is the couple just super cute but I just love the architecture.
^ Orry & Jacki… This couple wins the best engagement session award. This couple planned to have their engagement session in a cotton field. After finding out that the cotton field was harvested the day before their session was scheduled we had to change the plans last minute. Honestly, I dont think it could have turned out any better. See their full session here.
^The shots above were taken at Emily & Jame’s wedding. Both shots we’re taken first try with some off camera flash. This wins the best wedding exit Award.
^Brandice & Aaron’s wedding was one we we’re really looking forward to. This couple is just one we really connected with. The first image is again, one of my favorites this year. Also, the one above wins the best first look Award
^Amanda & John engagement session wins 2 awards! This wins the most adventurous and my most unique engagement session. Amanda & John weren’t going to let a little rain mess up their photos. To me… They have some photos that no one else does. I love it!
