Meg + Dean have been such a wonderful couple to work with. We met with them back in January at the BJCC Bridal Show in Birmingham, AL. Meg has a strong DNA of red heads in her family so they were super excited to see Alex. Everyone made us feel just like family from our first meeting to the end of the wedding day. We did a wonderful engagement session with Meg + Dean earlier this year at Oak Mountain State Park located near Pelham, Al; check it out HERE.
Meg + Dean decided to have their one of a kind wedding at Meg’s family owned property called Poppy’s Place located in Double Springs, Al. WHAT A PLACE!! It had that wonderful cozy feel and the weather for their big day seemed made for this quaint home.
We decided to walk to grounds to start Meg’s bridal portraits. She was absolutely stunning and totally rocking the dress she got from The Something Blue in Hartselle, Al. You will also notice the gorgeous bridesmaids dresses as well that seem to perfectly compliment her which were also purchased at the same shop.
Dean was getting ready at his and Meg’s house and was sporting an awesome tux from Men’s Warehouse. I feel you can never go wrong with getting a tux from there. Dean was so excited to see his beautiful bride for the first time and you could definitely see some stress fall from both of them being able to finally talk to each other on their big day. We sure do love first looks!
As we were walking around, we were just so taken away with all the amazing decorations and … wait for it … with help from family and friends they did it all themselves! WHAT!? Talk about a whole new spin on DIY and being completely awesome at it. We are definitely not as awesome as this family when it comes to doing it yourself. The tables and chairs were rented from Special Events in Tuscaloosa, AL. A local florist named William at Double Springs Flowers and Gifts in Double Springs, AL, did the amazing flowers. Lastly, probably some of the coolest lighting I have ever seen at a reception. Light the Way is the vendor to thank for this! He spent all day making sure everything was just right and he did an amazing job!! However, everything else you see was done by the family themselves and they knocked it out of the park!!! Great job guys!
The ceremony was a beautiful short and sweet filled with a prayer circle and all. It was definitely one for the books as one of my personal favorites. Not to mention everyone sitting there watching could definitely feel the love!
On to the reception where guests enjoyed some home cooked food, which was DELICIOUS! I’m telling you these two have some of the best support I think we have ever seen. Truly what makes a wedding day special everyone pitching in to make a day perfect for an amazing couple. While enjoying their food guests listened to some entertainment from the band Tremayne which is a band of a family friend, Mike Mayhall. I have got to say these guys kept things really enjoyable after the sun went down and were such troopers fighting through the chilliness of the night. They did such a great job and would be excited to see them again at a wedding in the future.
The delicious cake was done by … you guessed it … a family friend who happens to be an amazing and passionate cake artist, Lynn Winters. She did such a great job and the cake looks as great as it tastes. They had added some extra little sweets to compliment their own personal traits like Dean is from Kentucky so of course they decorated with a Kentucky cutting board along with some tasty Kentucky Derby Pies. Oh and now you are getting a little chilly on this October evening?? Well, head on over to the coffee bar and grab some coffee to warm you up. As sipping on the deliciousness in the cup guests also got to enjoy seeing their favorite couple up close and personal with the printed faces on the sleeves! SO CUTE! We were obsessed with this entire wedding I mean what a blast! The couple went away in style with a sparkler and cool car exit! I mean come on?! Coolest couple ever? I think so!
Congrats again you two!! We are so happy for the love you two share and can’t wait to continue to watch your beautiful relationship grow even more!
