Jacki contacted me not to long after I posted Alex & Katie’s Cotton Field Anniversary Session. She wanted to do something similar for her engagement session. I knew that harvesting time would be very soon. Which meant we had to do the session within the next week. We had it all planned out! I got news the day before the session that the cotton field had been harvested and none was left. We were all a little sad about that but with the engagement session being a day away we had to find a new location.
We bounced around a few idea of something in Downtown Birmingham but they wanted something less urban. Jacki suggested the Birmingham Botanical Gardens. I have only shot at the Botanical Gardens a few times YEARS ago. I’ve always heard that it’s a hard location to use because so many people are out enjoying the nice day. When I showed up I immediately thought that we had made a mistake, because there was A LOT of people there.
After doing some looking around we found several spots where large crowds of people went hanging around. Jacki & Orry’s Botanical Gardens Engagement Session is one that will go down in the Al Weddings history books for sure. We surprised ourselves with how beautiful these pictures turned out! But when you have a beautiful couple like Jacki & Orry, it makes things that much easier. By the way. How cool is the name Orry?
Jackie and Orry are just down right fun! We immediately connected with them as soon as they told us they love TV shows like Sons of Anarchy, True Blood, & Game of Thrones. Sometimes I feel like Sara and I watch too much TV but it was nice to talk to a couple who has watched every TV show under the Sun, just like Sara and I.
One thing that we love about being wedding photographers is hearing how couples met and just seeing how much they love each other. When you look at Jacki and Orry in these pictures, you can really see the love they have for each other. Sara was watching a slide show I made to show the pictures ( set to a lovey dovey song) and she started to tear up. That’s like the photographer’s jackpot! When your images can make someone feel something so strong and see that kind of love in pictures, there’s not a better feeling of accomplishment.
I hope you guys love the pictures as much as we do!

^ Sara and her ring shots!!! Couples are taking notice of these amazing details and demanding a ring shot of their own.
We had some extra time at the end of the session so we decided to take advantage of this dramatic sky.
^ You know we love to do Gifs
