HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO OUR LITTLE 4 YEAR OLD! Well, technically his birthday was basically a month ago at this point but considering we are still in the learning phase of being better podcast episode planners we figured better late than never! So on this episode of “The Married Podcast” we are chatting all about the number 1 guy in our lives – Jaxon! You will hear some of his favorite things right now, his many talents, and even some funny moments that have happened over the past year. We have to say that leaving year 3 behind is sad but very renewing considering threenagers are a very real and scary beast. We came out on the other side and it seems like we have our sweeter boy back although – he’s still very much a sour patch kid!
The Promptly Journal
We recently made a purchase of The Promptly Journal. After hearing so many incredible things about this “life” book it really seemed like a great fit to put many of his best memories over the next 18 years. We will be doing this for him and little miss L. No worries, we aren’t throwing out the traditional baby book we have been working on for 4 years already – this is just in addition to be able to keep documenting his life! Needless to say we fell in love with it and decided it would be fun to talk about some of the “prompts” it gave us for year 4. Considering he has now gotten to the age to adequately express himself a little better we asked him all these questions and got some pretty great answers!
Favorite Food: Ice Cream (hilarious! Especially considering the number 1 pregnancy craving was Milkshakes!)
Favorite Book: Transformers
Favorite Movie: Transformers (running theme?)
Favorite Song: The Star-Spangled Banner (how patriotic!)
Funny things you Say: “I hurt my booty!” “I’m gonna stick my finger in your butt” “It smells like poop in here” (to hear these in all of their glory we highly recommend you tuning in!
Loves the pets; especially our new kitten Parker!
The Next Year
I know time is going to fly! Every year we enter it thinking how big and grown he looks only to look back and see what a baby he still was. It kinda hurts our hearts to not be able to see that as it happens but thankful for the photos to look back on and see our sweet little guy. We think the next year will bring lots of obvious changes! He will surely grow taller and gain some weight haha although we don’t anticipate him going full chunk like he was when he was under 1! We think he will grow in his learning skills like letters, writing, math, etc while also maintaining his great physical skills! He definitely gets the physical agility from Alex!
Jax’s Talents
He’s good at anything he wants to be good at. Sounds like a certain redhead we all know and love. It’s true though! He decided he wanted to ride a bike and he has only gotten better and faster and we think by the end of Summer we will be training wheel free. Currently, he’s ready but isn’t willing to let us remove them yet. He’s amazing at Hockey! He started this past January and has been progressing so quickly. From never being on the ice in January to holding his stick while skating (still not super fast or anything) he has made big strides. He was so sad when he couldn’t go back due to COVID but we are signing him up for lessons again starting in September and ready for him to grow this skill of his. It’s the first sport he ever asked us to be a part of and we are thrilled for him! Obviously the other many talents is running, climbing, swimming (working on taking the swimmies off but he swims with his butt up so we think he’s getting there!), being on a skateboard and trying to ramp his bike off little jumps and everything.
We can’t believe he’s 4! We are trying to be fully out of diapers altogether and that seems like the last baby thing hanging around. Which is crazy because we are about to start all over come November. It’s exciting though to have had the ability to experience his first 4 years of just the 3 of us. We really feel like we got to take it all in and dedicate our attention to his early years. We know he’s going to be a fantastic big brother & can’t wait to see him transition into a new role!
