Well I’m glad you asked!
Today I wanted to make a specific blog about the importance of a wedding album. As many of you may know, Sara and I got married a little over 6 months ago. If any of you have talked to us about our wedding, one of the main things we will tell you is how we didn’t prepare for a lot of things like we should have. For that reason our wedding was a little hectic. We really didn’t understand all of the stresses that come along with planning a wedding and we put a lot of tasks on family members and friends. Not to go on a tangent but we wish we had done a little more research on planning our wedding.
We have learned a lot since then and it has been a big help in our wedding photography business. We can understand bride and grooms on a deeper level now. Ironically, we had no idea what to look for when looking for photographers. I know… it sounds nuts! But when meeting with wedding photographers we were pushed in so many directions with so much to think about: large deposits, coverage times, what package to purchase, etc. One thing that no one really told us about was the importance of a good wedding album.
After a very busy wedding season we are now able to look back and see all the things we want to make better next year. One of the things is that almost every package will include a VERY high-quality wedding album. As a bride and groom this is one of the few things that you can’t just go out and buy. Most high-end wedding album companies will only sell to registered businesses, unlike getting photo prints that anyone can go to Wal-Mart and print (which we don’t recommend). We do recommend that your wedding photos be displayed in the best way possible. A custom, high-quality album is simply one thing that a bride and groom can’t do without. Sure, there are plenty of places like Shutter Fly where you can use a pre-made template and drag and drop your photos. We even have some Shutter Fly albums. There is nothing wrong with them for IPhone photos but those albums are not made to stand the test of time and they are not meant to display high quality photographs. The quality of those albums are simply nowhere near what you want to have as your first family heirloom.
You want an album that you can hand down to your grandkids one day and it still look just as good as the day you received it. This is the reason we chose KISS Books. Another thing we were guilty of ourselves was receiving our wedding photos and doing absolutely nothing with them. We printed a few but I don’t think we even put them on Facebook… OOPS! But getting large prints done is something that we plan to do when we move into our new house. We live in a digital age where it is so easy to just let our photos live on our phones or on Instagram. Let’s face it. Couples pay thousands of dollars for someone to capture their wedding and some of them just use the photos as the wallpapers on their computer. This is not something we want for our clients. We want you to have something that you can look back on and relive your whole wedding day.
The photos on this blog are the actual albums we use. They are handmade in the USA and have a lifetime warranty. They even come with a protective cover to keep them looking brand-new.
Over the next few months we really want to compare our high-quality photos to some of the lower-end options. Most people have never had professional pictures taken, much less received high-quality print products. So it’s our job to show you what you’re missing out on!
