We are so excited to have our very own sweet, lady videographer, wife part of the husband & wife team, Katie, on the blog today talking all about herself! These are things that even as one of her best friends I was surprised by the results. She did so good thinking of some fun facts & she is just as super funny & sweet on wedding days! She is definitely my favorite Birmingham videographer. However, I am biased. See for youself!
“Alex & Sara were right, it IS hard to come up with 10 facts about yourself. Anytime you are playing one of those “getting to know you” games, it’s usually 3 facts max. Ten facts took some thought. Hope you guys enjoy these tidbits about myself.
1. I’m left handed. Sometimes I forget how rare this is. I used to act like it was an inconvenience when all of my notebooks in high school were spiral bound on the left side or when the scissors in elementary school were made only for right-handed folks. But I have come to fully embrace this quirk about myself. Lefties unite!
2. I am fluent in emojis/bitmoji/gifs. Most of my AL Weddings business related texts with my co-workers end with a bitmoji. Just ask Alex & Sara! Also, if you are not sure what I’m talking about, I strongly encourage you to download the bitmoji app (no, we do not receive any compensation for promoting this app, I just think it’s fun). It’s a fun way to convey sarcasm or excitement when a simple emoji just won’t do.
3. I love to karaoke. There’s nothing quite like singing a beloved song from the 90’s to a room full of mostly strangers. Sara & I can sure kill “This Man of Mine” by Shania Twain. You should just take our word for it!
4. Local music is my jam. Music has always been near and dear to my heart and the best part about being in Birmingham is our local music scene. Seriously, if you haven’t been out to support our local bands, you are missing out big time! Our beautiful city is full of talent!
5. I sometimes (often) have a strange sense of humor. I laugh at things most people would roll their eyes at. Unlike Alex Lucas, I happen to LOVE cat videos. They are hilarious and give me life. I also follow Grumpy Cat on Insta.
6. If I wasn’t a videographer I would be a Park Ranger. I’ve always adored the great outdoors and Smokey the Bear has always been a hero of mine with his desire to protect nature. Let’s not forget his super cool wide-brimmed hat. We get to spend a lot of time outdoors shooting weddings and it seriously keeps my little nature heart so full.
7. I survived an EF-5 tornado in 1998 in Oak Grove, AL. If you’ve heard of Oak Grove, it is likely because of a tornado. But what you might not know is our little town is full of loving and caring people who have rallied around each other during any storm we have weathered together. I love my hometown so much!
8. I’m a new puppy Mom to a Yorkie named Lola. She’s a handful but probably the most adorable creature I’ve ever seen. She’s so cuddly, crazy & oh so fluffy! I’ve officially become that crazy puppy parent that shows pictures to everyone I meet and talks about her even when no one asks. Humor me, please.
9. I learned how to skateboard to spend more time with Alex McKown. We all do things to get closer to the ones we love, but this thing was harder than I ever imagined possible. I’m not the most athletic or coordinated person I know, so skateboarding was pretty tough for me to get the hang of. In fact, I’m still pretty bad. But it’s something we love to do together and we both always get a good laugh out of my efforts.
10. I have a serious love for board games. I’m always down for a game of Taboo or Trouble. My family has always been big on games and I’ve always appreciated how they can make even the grumpiest friend or family member find their inner kid. I’m not a super competitive person which makes game night even more fun to me!”
