MOVING:
Now this is the biggest adventure over the last 6 months of our whole lives!
6 year ago (2 months after High School Graduation) Sara & myself decided that we wanted to move in together. We moved into a 500 square ft house. It was a crappy house with 1 closet and in the winter you could feel a breeze blowing through every nook and cranny in that place. That house is where Sara and I learned some very valuable lessons. We learned how to cook (AKA how not to burn food), I learned how to do laundry and wash dishes, we both learned that there are some very bad people out there, after having our dog stolen from our house and finally getting her back after 2 week. Wondering how someone could do what they did to her is something that still crosses my mind. We learned that you can function on $20 after bills are paid, we learned that we could go weeks with only seeing each other because we didn’t have money to do much else. We learned that times would get hard (really hard) But to use those times to make our love stronger. Giving up would have been so easy. I remember that winter being the coldest winter in the history of my life. That might have been because our heat didn’t work, no matter how long it ran. We still have a copy of a gas bill that was $500. But we couldn’t have been happier to be together.
We’ve moved 6 times since then and embarking on our 7th. Within those 6 moves, we have some stories to tell! Looking back, most of them are pretty funny now. Everything from getting kicked out because we own 2 Pit Bulls, to our apartment being flooded for 3 weeks, coming home to what seemed like our house being on fire only to find out that Sara left a candle burning on the stove and it filled the whole house with smoke, to living below what sounded like a herd of elephants, to finally moving into my childhood home after not being there for 20 years. It’s been a long a crazy ride. We’ve had some amazing neighbors that were there to let us borrow that cup of milk or use their WiFi for a few days or that one neighbor that gave me tattoos for watching his dogs.
I wouldn’t trade it for anything because it’s all been with Sara. Trust me we now have some pretty good stories to tell when hanging out with friends. I say all this because this move is our 7th move. But this one is different! We are moving into our first HOME (not house). We now have something to call our own. I’m not quite sure the word hustle even explains what we’ve done to make this happen. Never in my wildest dreams would I have thought we’d be 24 with 2 degrees, own a business, 2 puppies and a cat, a nice car and not living off Ramen and sweet tea.
As we move into our new home. I can only hope that we continue to have some awesome stories to tell. Thank you to everyone who has ever helped us move, taught us something along the way, or helped us in a time of need. Thank you all so much!
