We are in love with this wedding. Well, we love all weddings and love being around people in love. There is something truly special about being able to not only photograph the love your best friend shares with her new hubby but also stand beside her and support her on one of the biggest days of their lives. Oh, the joy of being the 31-week pregnant photographer bridesmaid.
Holly and I go way back to the dark days of nursing school. Where sleep was minimal and stress was high. Where a couple slaps in the face were given daily and the constant fear of passing tests or reading the 100 pages that you need to read to be “prepared” for class the next day. Let me give you a hint. You are never prepared for class the next day! Not even when it’s something as simple as washing your hands. Yes! As a nurse, someone has to watch you wash your hands the right way and dry them the correct way to get a golden start for hand hygiene. Well, thankfully we made it!!
Throughout school, I listened to Holly talk about this sweet guy named Andrew. It may have never been long, sappy conversations about their love, but that’s just not how Holly is. I truly didn’t see the love these two share until Alex, and I grabbed some lunch with them last year when talking about their big day and after their engagement session it just further showed their love. My sweet best friend had found the man of her dreams right under my nose! He was here the whole time, and it was so obvious these two are meant to be together.
Of course, when the wedding day arrived it was just a bundle of sweet and gorgeous craziness. Our friend group is not ordinary, and you get all these girls in a room together getting ready you’re bound to need some ear plugs and probably a mimosa. (I wish!) Although we’ve worked with Brittney Shelton a few times, she’s never seen me with my friend group. I’m sure she thought we were nuts. Oh but the joy of sitting around together dreaming of the next few hours and getting prettied up was something I will always remember.
Once we arrived at Douglas Manor, the anticipation was increasing. Everyone was ready for the special I Do’s but before all of that Holly had to see her groom! I have walked the walked with tons and tons of brides. You know … The first look walk. As we walk over, I ask them about their excitement and give them some helpful confidence. However, here I am this time camera still in tow but talking to a true best friend about the big moment. It was a different feeling than most. This must be why bridesmaids always want to watch the first look, and I had a front row seat. It was precious!
I loved being a part of this day in more ways than just one. Everything was gorgeous and being able to see the love these two share for each other was priceless!! I wouldn’t have changed a thing about this day because it was truly perfect!
