Where do I even begin to start with these two? I mean … they are truly such a blessing to know and we are so grateful for having them as clients + friends. So … hold on because this blog is gonna be lengthy. I mean with a journey like the one we have had I feel as though its only fitting!
Rewind back 10 months … Here Me + Alex are … working away at the bridal show; parched and voice giving out from speaking with so many brides. Up walks Devon, clearly the bride, she looked so excited to be searching for her wedding vendors. Devon did not come alone of course; next her stood a very tall man … VERY TALL MAN … I mean he’s definitely the tallest I have met and man did he look cool. Oh but wait there’s more… Next to them were these other two happy women. I truly wasn’t sure if they were best friends or what because they just got along so well together. Turns out .. It was Devon’s mother and Matt’s mother; however, they embraced each getting to share a new addition to the family.
I knew at this moment … I loved this family. They were so kind and genuine … Oh but keep in mind I’m currently a bystander. Alex got to talk to them first! Finally my time came and up walks Devon “Hey I just wanted to talk with you first; just wanted to make sure you aren’t weird”. Well, I’ll tell you that was a first. I laughed along with Devon but what a point she made and understood. No one wants a weird photographer for sure! Not to mention I was gonna spend a whopping 12 hours on her wedding day with her … so thank goodness I wasn’t weird! Devon gave us a quick update on her father who did have cancer but it wasn’t too bad right now. She just wanted us to know about it. Mental notes we made along with the thought of how much I hate cancer.
It must have been about the 3rd week of February when we get a call from Devon saying her Dad’s health had taken a turn for the worst. This was not a call I expected and my heart immediately ached for her and their family. Her father was given a couple months to live and their wedding wasn’t until August. Devon + Matt decided to have a small ceremony early for her father to be there for. All the amazing vendors pitched in to make this terrible news have a smaller blow. Please go over and see Part I of Devon + Matt’s wedding HERE.
Sadly Devon’s father did pass away end of May. Our condolences still go out to the family, but thankful he is free of sickness and pain. We were very fortunate to know him and his wonderful family.
This summer was HOT! It was just not very pleasant as far as weather is concerned. However, is summer in Alabama ever pleasant unless your in a body of water? Well, Devon + Matt’s Part II August wedding was not the average “Alabama August Wedding”. Boy OH Boy it was Beautiful. It was slightly overcast all day with a light breeze, which helped bring the temperature down to something more tolerable. We like to think Devon’s father send them the best weather possible. We were so excited for this day to finally come and the weather being great was such a nice bonus! We arrived to her hotel and Nancy Finnegan was working on Devon’s beautiful Makeup! She did such a great job and the makeup did so well all day. Devon had Hair Design 3000 do her hair; which was the only person who ever did anything to Devon’s hair. I don’t blame her! Locks like Devon’s you can’t just let anyone mess around with it!
When we arrived to the Hampton Cove Wedding Plantation in Huntsville, Al the sun was high but what a gorgeous venue! We walked around and checked out all the wonderful details. We noticed some beautiful florals which were done by Simpsons Florist and they were so A-MAZING! Loved the look of it and they did amazing.
Devon + Matt chose a sparkler get away and drove off into the night in a Nova. Alex was pretty excited about the get away car. The entire day was so fabulous and such a blast! We were happy to have shared such a large part in their life with them and can’t wait to see what the future brings them!! Congratulations Devon + Matt!!
