MY OH MY! It seems like just yesterday it was June 15th, and we were heading to the hospital discussing all the excitement that was about to enter our lives in just one day. Read the full birth story here. Now here we are a little over a month later, and we have a baby boy who has an appetite like his parents and curiosity like his best friend Pye the cat.
I don’t do personal blogs often enough, and I figured with our fantastic new bundle that I would start doing monthly reflections and update everyone on how it is adjusting to a new life with little Jax. This first one may be long, but it isn’t short of excitement.
The last week of pregnancy I was so emotional leaving behind my life as two and stepping into our new lives as three. For the past seven years, it had always just been Alex and me so, of course, there is a good reason for being emotional but let’s not get confused I was so happy to meet the new little man in my life. Alex was just over the moon and nervous the whole week. I would wake up for a bathroom break, and he assumed I must have been in labor … Well, that day never came, and I was induced.
Fast forward to the big day. It wasn’t an easy delivery but one to remember. After 18 hours of labor and a little over 3 hours of pushing Mister Jaxon Thomas Lucas was born in all his glory on June 16, 2016, at 1:46 pm weighing in at 8 lbs 12 oz and 22 ¼ inches long. He was a BIG baby … trust me. He was instantly such a good baby. I’m not sure if he even cried the first few days and still to this day when there is a cry you can bet yourself there is a reason.
Like I said earlier, he loves to eat! I mean he is what his pediatrician calls at his max limit but when he’s hungry he meant that he slept through the food alarm clock, and he was hungry 15 minutes ago. Other than that and his undying need to stay completely clean and dry he is such a great baby with very little complaints in his world. These days you are more likely to catch Alex working for our beautiful clients or reading up on the next great baby facts and developmental changes. Me? I’m most commonly on our couch with a baby near by and most likely I have spit up somewhere on my clothes and my hair has stayed up a good portion of this last month. However, I wouldn’t change it for the world. I look forward to a little boy running around calling me Mommy but currently I’m wading in the waters of piles of laundry and baby diapers and enjoying the confusion that is baby cries. Thank goodness after a month I’m finally getting the hang of it … I think.
Also, we had some amazing photos taken by Melissa Wells Photography and we got to decorate his nursery.
