Prepare yourself for a grin from ear to ear. I dare you to try and not smile at these photos. Lauren + Francisco definitely have an amazing chemistry together. It’s easy to see why they love one another. Heck, we’ve only known them for a short time and we cant help but love them and feel like their our old pals. I don’t even think we’d started photographing yet when I remembered how we spent over 2 hours talking at their consult. If you mention the tv shows LOST or Dexter, prepare yourself for a long conversation. Sara and I are pretty much professional tv show binge watchers. Name a show and we’ve probably seen it. These two made the mistake of bringing up both shows and they immediately had us hooked. We HAD to be their photographers. We had the amazing opportunity to spend Sunday evening with them. Sara and I were on a natural high around them. They are so fun, talkative, funny, loving and just all around amazing.
Lauren + Francisco met through a mutual friend who must be an amazing matchmaker because she couldn’t have paired two better people together. After 3 amazing years of dating, Francisco took Lauren on a trip to Gatlinburg, TN to celebrate their anniversary. Which I’m pretty sure I did the same thing for Sara on our 3rd anniversary. Knowing Lauren so well, Francisco knew that he couldn’t take her to Gatlinburg without stopping in Pigeon Forge to see the Titanic museum. For those of you who don’t know or have never been, at the end of the tour you are at a replica of the master staircase on the Titanic. You know! The one at the end of the movie. That’s where Francisco popped the question. For Lauren, this was the perfect place for him to propose because she is a huge fan of the movie and the historical part of the Titanic.
Both of these guys love Vulcan. They’ve been there many of times just to get one of the best vantage spots of Birmingham and they wanted to incorporate that into their photos. We told them that this was a great place to have a session on Sunday because it won’t be busy. Well, I may have spoken too soon. It was actually very busy but other than the occasional person in the background or “You guys look so cute! Are yall taking engagement photos?” the session couldn’t have been any more amazing. Both of them swore to us that they were not good photo takers and were “awkward.” Sara and I always take this as a challenge to prove them wrong and show a couple how amazing they really are. Lauren sent me this message yesterday and it fills my heart when we get such kind words like this sent to our inbox. It’s better than my morning coffee.
“I can’t tell you how much fun we had with you guys on Sunday! I told Francisco that it basically felt like we just cuddled the whole day in front of our friends. We felt so comfortable! Ya’ll do amazing work, I knew I picked the best people/photographers from the moment I met ya’ll. You and Sara are such a wonderful and kind couple!”
From there we moved to one of our favorite spots, Linn Park. It’s one of the only places that actually has some greenery in the winter. But we were so excited when we got there and so this dogwood? tree in full blossom! We photographed them until there was no light left and we had to call it a night. You two really brought the house down with this session, guys. We can’t wait for your wedding this July at Mathews Manor.

PS. Lauren – I’m a big fan of the history of the Titanic myself. I did a essay on it in high school.
