This engagement session was definitely like no other. When planning Mabel + Sting’s engagement session, she told me she wanted something really different than the typical engagement session. She said she loved the idea of Devon and Matt’s Engagement session. Something with a waterfall! Devon and Matt were just lucky enough to have a waterfall in their backyard so we couldn’t use that location. The closest waterfall to us if Pevine Falls at Oak Mountain in Pelham, Alabama. So that’s where we planned to do the session.
Weeks prior to their session it had only rained a little so we knew we are taking a big chance and just hoping there would be some water coming over the falls. I talked with Mabel and also told her it was a LEGIT hike down to the falls. I really thought this would scare her away from the idea, but she was excited and ready to take on whatever she had to, to get waterfall engagement photos. When we met for the session, Mabel had a very nice cocktail dress on with cowgirl boots. Not ideal for hiking! Sting was even shocked Mabel planned an engagement session like this. Sting, who is in the military, loves the outdoors but just couldn’t see Mabel hiking down to a waterfall. But let me tell you this. Maybel was a CHAMP! She hiked down this mountain, never complaining and barely broke a sweat.
After a decent little hike we got to the very bottom to see that not only was there no water coming over the falls, there was hardly any water at all in the creek at the bottom. Regardless, waterfall or not. I love the photos from this session. I can say that this is the only time I have seen engagement photos from the bottom of Pevine Falls. So all in all, Maybel got what she wanted. A one of a kind engagement session.
