We are so excited that your wedding day is coming up and as calm as you want to feel … you just know you are forgetting something. No worries! We have made a list of bridal details you will not want to forget to get photographed on your wedding day. As Wedding Photographers in Birmingham, Alabama for over 6 years we have seen it all and watched people forget it all! However, with us as your handy reminders. You won’t forget a single thing! Check out the list below & a little tip at the very end!
Full Wedding Invitation Suite
When you are counting up how many invites you will need to send out. Don’t forget to add at least 2 extras to be photographed! You will want your own to keep forever anyways but the extra 1 also leaves room to dress up the image a little more. If you are paying for a wedding calligrapher to address your envelopes ask them to address one to you! You can leave the address off and you will actually be happy you did. We believe letting your names make a peep into the image is great but it doesn’t need to be cluttered by an actual address.
ALL the Wedding Rings
It’s VERY common for these to be forgotten. Not left at home but previously hand out to the keepers of the rings on the wedding day. We suggest keeping both bands and your engagement ring all together until after these photos are taken. We make sure we are photographing these first thing when we arrive so they can head to their safe place for the rest of the day!
Your Bridal Jewelry
It’s likely this is hard to forget. However, keeping it nice and organized is helpful! Take time to place your earrings, bracelet, necklace or pearls somewhere safe and organized. So when your photographer arrives on your wedding day everything is ready for them and you don’t have to pull jewelry from the 10 different places it is hiding.
Your Wedding Day Shoes
Part of the show stopper during detail photos is having beautiful shoes to photograph. We know it’s important to break your shoes in but if you can help it try and just break them in around the house. This way they will still look pretty and new for wedding day photos! Make sure to not add any of the “comfort” items to your shoes or heels just yet. Once they have been photographed they are yours forever!
The Family Heirlooms
Ask your Mother and Mother-in-Law for any heirlooms you would like to include on your wedding day. Many of our brides have borrowed jewelry and broaches from their grandmothers and it is such a sweet moment to capture during this setting. You never know what someone else may have that adds the perfect little detail to your day!
Your Bridal Bouquet
If possible have your bridal bouquet dropped off in the same place where these details will be photographed. It will add a personal piece and color of your wedding day & you will be so happy you remembered this! It can often be forgotten and it definitely makes the images just a little sweeter!
Your Wedding Dress (& Veil)
Make sure your wedding dress where it should be to have pictures taken. Many times this is the same place where you will be getting dressed at but if it is different than pre-plan with your photographer on where they would like to capture this larger detail. The veil can sometimes be left behind because it is almost invisible inside the dress bag! Double-check the week of your wedding to be sure all the major items are right where they are supposed to be!
Grab the Extra “Other” Stuff
The “other” stuff is maybe things that aren’t exactly bridal related but would be great to capture at this same time so everything looks very cohesive. We believe in consistency and if possible we like to make this a time to capture all details that are available. These other items could be drink coozies, styled cookies, a welcome box, or whatever favor you might be giving away at the end of the night.
Bridal Detail Tips from a Wedding Photographer –
Don’t Forget!
These are all the little things that actually add up to a lot of money. It may not be a large priority to you but blocking time out to have these documented will help your photographer get a feel for your wedding day! We usually recommend an hour; however, if it’s not a large priority and there are not as many details than 30 minutes could do the trick! If possible request some extra florals from your florist for the photographer to use on your wedding day. It will help bring in personal style elements from your wedding day to the images and help set the stage for a wedding album. Pretty little details are seriously so much fun to work with!
