Hey Friends! We are so happy your here. We have been working hard to give you some really great information today. Wedding details can be so tough! Things that are so small certainly have a lot of pressure on them. It has taken us quite some time to figure out the best way to photograph them on the wedding day to get breathtaking results. We are going to give you 3 tips to get you started & at the end of this blog is a sweet freebie! Our very first “How to” guide! The Wedding Details Guide will expand tremendously on this blog! Within 5 pages you will have some helpful & amazing information that you can use at your very next wedding! We cover everything from The wedding dress down to the smallest little jewel! We certainly did our best to be sure no wedding detail was left out. We hope you ENJOY!
1. Start Your Day With a Warm Up!
At one point in our photography career we actually just squeezed wedding details wherever the day would allow. At this point, we would never demand time for them and as soon as we did our wedding details took a turn for the better! Now we have a strict beginning of the day policy. Obviously this may not work for everyone; however, in our experience, it certainly works best for us and our clients! We arrive and collect our box of goodies & the bridal attire and we are off to start our day! We have found this gives us time to not only get in a creative mindset but actually, gives a little insight to the “style” of the wedding which helps us be sure the wedding will look consistent throughout the entire day! We personally allot 1 hour – 1.5 hours of shooting time for details!
2. Find Natural Light!
We find that amazing consistent natural light and photograph the wedding details there! Ideally, we like to use an item of furniture from the getting ready location; however, we do not let that dictate the location. So if the light is better in one location but the background for the images isn’t ideal we use our little board trick (stated in the guide!) to create our very own area! Lighting is ALWAYS more important than background!
3. Talk to the Bride Before the Wedding Day!
How do we get that box of goodies right away at the beginning of the day within 2 minutes? It’s not because the bride just thought of it on her own. We let our brides know before the big day that we would like all the details ready to be taken upon our arrival on the wedding day! We then list all the things we need and stress the fact that ALL wedding rings need to be with her at the beginning of the wedding day. The main things we like to recommend are the invitation suite with envelopes, bridal jewelry, shoes, veil, engagement ring, wedding bands, heirlooms, and anything else she feels is important at this time. This turns a 10 minute digging through bags and some unneeded stress on the wedding day to a simple 2-second process. I think this helps a ton with the experience of her wedding day!
