Sara and Nancy went to high school together and when she found out that she recently got engaged, Sara jumped at the opportunity to photograph them.
For everyone who lives in Alabama you know how unpredictable the weather can be. When we first checked the weather about a week and a half before the session, it said it was going to be sunny. Then a few days later it said it was going to be raining. We talked with them about doing a rain session and they were all for it, as were we. But a few days before the session it said it was not going to rain but the temperature would be in the 30’s. But hey! Better cold than rain… I thought.
On the day of the shoot I think it was 37 degrees with lots of wind. It was FREEZING!
With it being this cold the only way to stay “warm” was to keep our mind off of the fact that we were miserably cold. Especially Nancy, who was in a dress. But this gave us something to laugh about and make jokes at how cold we were. So it made for some good expressions.
We did these photos at Morris Avenue in Birmingham, Al. Normally this place is packed with photographers and people just hanging out but today it was a ghost town. Other than the occasional car driving down the road, we had the whole place to ourselves.
Nancy and Marcus are a couple that are very playful and constantly picking on each other. Which sounds a lot like my relationship with Sara. These guys seemed like they had lots of fun or maybe their faces were just frozen into a smiling expression, I’m not sure.
All in all we got some great shots in a location that is normally hard to find space to work. I hope you enjoy!
