Hey Y’all! If you’re not a photographer the moving, resizing, & sharing part of a gallery can get pretty difficult. We do it day in and day out so Alex and I are used to the magnitude of it all. Well, my goodness do we have some great news for you! It’s not that hard & it doesn’t have to be! We decided to write a little how-to for our photo galleries & hope this applies to most other photographer galleries as well!
So, you received your gallery of photos & you are happier than a dog on a summer day! Now what? If you received a gallery from us we typically will send two links! One link will be for downloading straight to your computer & another is for getting a super cool app to get the images straight to your phone with out taking up too much space! If you’re working with a different photographer than the very best thing to do is simply ask for the images! Hopefully, they will be happier than Alex and I drinking Starbucks & share the beautiful images they took with you!!
We give you directions in the email about downloading them so we hope you have come here after you have finally gotten the images to your device of choice! We are going to now share some apps & tricks about getting these images resized for your website or social media!
1. BLOGSTOMP!
This is a must have app that is GREAT for resizing & creating sweet little gatherings for your website & blog! It is an inexpensive download that will make a world of a difference to the amount of work you do to share a wedding with your followers! First, you will select all the images you would like to resize/create a gathering of images for your blog! Then drag them over to the image section & voila! After that, you simply select one at a time and click “STOMP” to resize the image or select multiple images to play with their different setups along the right side! Feel free to “mix it up” if you wish to have an image in a different location in the collage! Then Click “STOMP” after the collage is how you desire it to be! Pretty simple huh? From there you can share away to your heart’s content via your website, blog, or social media!
2. CREDITS
We will have a copy of text in our “notes” folder on our computer & phone that is full of all the vendors from a wedding day! It looks a little something like this …
Photography: AL Weddings | Videography: AL Weddings | Bride’s Dress: Diane’s Bridal–Christina Wu | Hair & Makeup Artist: Lauren Findley-Adriane Hadley | Groom’s Attire: Men’s Wearhouse | Bridesmaids Dress: Azazie | Florist: KathrynAnne Weddings | Invitation: CarraraType | Getting Ready Venue: Southwind Plantation | Ceremony & Reception Venue: Southwind Plantation | Cake: Haven Thompson | Caterer: Dad’s Bar-B-Que | Entertainment: Blackberry Breeze |
We will use this and replace each previous vendor with our new vendors for our most recent wedding & paste it into Facebook & our blog! It makes it super easy to just type in & be sure we aren’t leaving anyone out! For Instagram, it acts as a checklist to be sure everyone we can tag is correct!
3. SWEET REMINDERS TO MAKE IT EASY!
Anytime that someone doesn’t receive a gallery from me is mostly because I literally can’t find them! Whether it’s searching Facebook or looking for their website it seems impossible sometimes to find the person to give them images from our wedding together! In this instance I move right along; however, I would much rather be able to find them!
I think being sure to connect with the photographers on a wedding day or emailing them after the wedding is a sure way to be sure we can find you & know who you are! Also, being sure an email is listed on your website & social media is a great place for us to run to in order to find the best form of contact!
4. WHAT ABOUT WHAT NOT TO DO?
We are so excited to have others who love our images as much as we do! It truly makes our day! However, just like we don’t have any business taking a part a floral arrangement and rearranging it to suit our own needs we also don’t want you to change our images in any way. This includes the crop & the edit. I think this same rule goes across the board pretty evenly with any photographer! So loving them as is & keeping their original form is the best way & easiest way to make us even more excited to share the images with you!
Also, we love to submit to publications! We have an amazing subscription to Two Bright Lights that has definitely been worth the money we spend for it. So, because of the nature of our passion for sharing we like to be the ones to submit a wedding. Don’t worry we adore & love your enthusiasm! Just let us know what publication you really think will be a great fit & we are more than happy to submit away! Making sure the wedding is presented in the perfect light with every vendor credit!
5. MY IMAGES AREN’T FROM YOU & I’M NOT SURE WHERE TO START!
If you have received a link & have the images downloaded to your computer then that’s the first step! If you don’t have an app to get them to your phone then utilize services like Dropbox, Google Drive, or even email/text the images to yourself. If you are like us and you have Apple products then Airdrop is literally your best friend to complete the transfer easy and effortless!
The other apps I discussed earlier would still work just as great! Don’t be afraid to talk to your photographer and ask them what they prefer you do to share them images! I hope this helped get you started on the world of sharing & let’s remember SHARING IS CARING!
