When Sara & I were planning our honeymoon we had a few ideas but really didn’t know what we wanted to do. I knew I wanted to leave the country! I wanted to do something that I had never done before. But with this we knew there would be a lot of planning. Getting Passports, coordinating flights with pick up times from the airport, what can we pack, what can’t we pack, exchange rate, etc. The list goes on and on when travel planning. Talking with a travel agent is the best decision we came up with. You tell them some ideas you are thinking about and they magically get you all the information you need. You ddon’thave to worry about a thing. You just hop on our plane or cruise ship and enjoy your honeymoon.
I asked our travel agent, Rachel Digirolamo from Classic Travel Connection, to give us some tips on planning the best honeymoon.
When you are planning a wedding, there are so many decisions that need to be made like picking out the perfect gown, cake, flowers, etc., but you cannot forget to plan the PERFECT HONEYMOON. When I was getting married this was one of the most exciting steps in completing my checklist but also one of the most stressful. Most engaged couples ask themselves questions like: where do we want to go, should we go on a cruise or an all-inclusive resort? I have to tell you there are a lot of great choices so getting some travel advice is a good plan.
She has given us four tips that will make your life easier when planning your honeymoon.
Tip 1: Have a Budget
Talk about what you can afford together. Deciding on a honeymoon budget is a good place to start the process. If your budget is $3,000 don’t start out looking at honeymoons that start at $7,000. Try to just look at options within or close to your budget.
Tip 2: Talk to a Travel Agent
Did you know that my services are free? Yes, FREE! When you call me, I will find out what your likes and dislikes are and what your budget is to figure out exactly what your options are for your dream honeymoon. Instead of calling a 1-800 number when you have questions, you get to call the same person every time. You don’t have to worry about them not knowing who you are or understanding them because you would deal with the same person EVERY SINGLE TIME.
Tip 3: Purchase Travel Insurance
Many people wonder if they should purchase travel insurance. I highly recommend always getting travel insurance. You may have just paid $4,000 for your honeymoon and there is always the chance your trip might have to be delayed or cancelled. We offer a Cancel for Any Reason policy with most of our honeymoons. What does that mean? That means if for some reason you get sick, a hurricane blows up or a loved one passes away you get the full cost of your honeymoon back minus the expense of the travel insurance. I hope that each and every time my clients book a honeymoon or vacation they don’t have to use the insurance, but it’s nice to have for the 10% of people that do have to use it.
Tip 4: Book the Honeymoon in Advance
I highly recommend nine months out. You get the best selection of availability for resorts, cruises, flights and rooms. Also, planning this far out gives you a longer time to make payments on your dream honeymoon. Most of our trips have to be paid in full 45 days prior to travel. So, if you are booking nine months in advance, you have seven months to make payments on it.
I hope these tips will help make planning your honeymoon easier. I would love to help you plan your honeymoon, anniversary trip or family vacation and help eliminate some stress. Leave it to the professional who has seen these places first-hand, can answer your questions and give helpful advice all with no cost to you. I look forward to working with you. “
